Recent Issues - Webcam not being activated (Chrome specific)

We identified a recent issue with a Google Chrome update Version 107.0.5304.107 on Windows and Version 107.0.5304.110 on Mac.

Discovered on: 2022/11/14


Unable to turn the Webcam on with the following message even if the webcam is not being used by any other application.

If you are using an application that uses the Webcam (i.e., Windows webcam app, Skype, etc.) close it and try again. The issue listed here is not the same.


  1. Make sure the microphone is off
  2. Click the Cogwheel button on the bar in the upper right-hand area
  3. Select the appropriate microphone and webcam from the dropdown menus
  4. Close the menu and try enabling the webcam again. If this does not work,
  5. Reload the page once
  6. If nothing works, close the browser and relaunch.

The solution is tested and working.

Additional Help

  1. Clear web browser cookies and cache
  2. Make sure your computer/internet is not putting any restrictions
  3. You can test your webcam and microphone using the connection test tool in the webinar room (click the Cogwhel and find the link in the popup)
